Red Deer Tattoo Co. is a custom tattoo studio in Red Deer, Alberta, built around a team of talented, professional artists specializing in a wide range of styles, from traditional and black & grey to fineline, realism, coverups, and fully custom work. Since opening in October 2024 (though our birthday will always be Halloween), we've focused on creating a clean, welcoming environment where creativity, quality, and community come first. Whether clients arrive with a finished concept or just an idea, we're passionate about bringing their vision to life and connecting them with the right artist. Giving back is a huge part of who we are, which is why we're proud to host our annual Vets & Pets fundraiser in support of causes close to our hearts. Most importantly, we're grateful to every client who trusts us with their tattoo, supports our artists, and helps make this journey possible.

PASSION OVER PROFIT

At Red Deer Tattoo Co., we've always believed tattoos should be about more than making a sale. Every piece that leaves our studio becomes a permanent part of someone's story, and that's a responsibility we take seriously. We'd rather spend extra time getting a design right, answering questions, and creating a great experience than rush someone through the door for the sake of another appointment.

Our focus has always been on quality work, honest advice, and building lasting relationships with our clients. If that means recommending a different artist, adjusting a design, or taking more time to perfect the details, we'll do it. We believe great tattoos come from passion, creativity, and genuine care for the people wearing them—not from treating tattooing like a transaction.

Our Approach

Every tattoo starts with a conversation. Whether you have a fully developed concept or just a rough idea, our artists work closely with you to create a design that fits your vision, style, and placement. We believe the best tattoos come from collaboration and taking the time to get the details right.

Clean & Professional

We take cleanliness, safety, and professionalism seriously. Our studio follows strict sterilization and hygiene practices to ensure every client feels comfortable and confident throughout the tattooing process.

frequently asked questions

Do I need a consultation?

Not always. Smaller, straightforward tattoos can often be booked directly through the artist. For larger pieces, coverups, sleeves, custom projects, or anything that requires more planning, a consultation is the best way to discuss ideas, placement, sizing, budget, and timelines before booking.

Can you cover up an old tattoo?

In many cases, yes. Coverups depend on factors such as the size, age, colour, darkness, and placement of the existing tattoo. The best way to find out what's possible is to book a consultation so one of our artists can assess the tattoo and discuss the available options with you.

How do I book?

You can book by contacting the shop directly, reaching out to one of our artists, visiting the studio in person. or simply clicking here to fill out a booking form. We'll help match you with the artist best suited to your project and guide you through the consultation and booking process if needed.

What should I bring?

Please bring valid government-issued photo ID, especially if it's your first visit. We also recommend arriving well-rested, hydrated, and having eaten a good meal beforehand. Feel free to bring reference images, ideas, or inspiration for your tattoo. For longer sessions, snacks and a drink are always a good idea.

How do I care for my tattoo?

Your artist will provide detailed aftercare instructions specific to your tattoo. In general, keep your tattoo clean, avoid picking or scratching it, and follow your artist's recommendations for washing and moisturizing. Avoid swimming, soaking, excessive sun exposure, and heavy friction while the tattoo is healing. Proper aftercare plays a huge role in ensuring your tattoo heals well and looks great for years to come. please see our aftercare instructions page for more.
